Operation Freedom

hosts trips to wilderness settings as well as to historical landmarks where great battles were fought and brave men died.

We've been to Southern Oregon, to Costa Rica, to the beaches and cemeteries of Normandy, the Siskiyou Wilderness of Northern California, the Weminuche Wilderness of Colorado and the snowfields of Yellowstone.

The bond between men that develops during these weeks away cannot be adequately described. It has to be experienced. That freedom in Christ that we know about becomes what we know we really have!

Operation Freedom also hosts week long trips for couples. With an emphasis on romance and togetherness, these encounters help return our hearts to the days of our first love, both with Christ and with our spouse. Together in a secure and intimate setting, we rediscover the pleasures of marriage and also review the trials that have grown us together instead of apart. We feel a part of the greatest love story ever told—Christ and His bride!

On all these events and trips, the stresses of life back home begin to fade away. Memories are made and deep friendships are born.

Honest men and women tell their stories of facing the difficulties of life but also finding God’s sufficiency, no matter what.

BANDS OF MEN

James 1:2-3 says, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance."

Joy? In my trials? You gotta be kidding? Endurance? No, I want to run, not endure!

Ever feel like this? Hard to experience joy in difficult times. But what helps is a band of other men who have been there, who have faced the challenges that life brings, and have lived to tell about it.

To enhance this essential, we at Operation Freedom can link you to others who have been with us on these getaways, men who have been in life’s foxholes together, and know what it means to care well for each other.

WEEKEND GETAWAYS

Limited versions of our Operation Freedom week-long events are scheduled periodically with men’s and church groups.

Serving as a prelude to the longer trips, these Friday-Sunday weekends are a blast—worship times, looong discussions, rappelling, fishing, laughing and fine cigars! Often, men who attend, enlist for the longer trips out west. Our team is available upon request to lead these.

MOVIE NIGHTS

Also available are movie nights, for men only, where films that are unique to our own challenges in life are viewed together along with conversation and identification with the main characters. Included are good beverages and fine food—not just pork and beans! We have some great chefs among us!

OPEN RANGE

For you cowboys we have great connections in the mountains of North Georgia to ride — really ride — great American Saddle horses! This is not just a nose to butt trail ride but also a high stakes run through the Chattahoochee National Forest at elevations up to 3000 feet!

ON THE DRAWING BOARD!

Have you read Stephen Ambrose’s book, UNDAUNTED COURAGE? He traces the Lewis and Clark Expedition that ended 200 years ago and opened up the American West. We are planning to trace it too — at least a part of it. This will be a 40 mile river trip on the Upper Missouri River near Ft. Benton, Montana. Who Knows? Maybe we’ll extend the trip and take a hike over the Bitteroots to see if we can find a waterway to the Pacific?

Where are the Balkans? In the planning stages is an Operation Freedom in the Southern Carpathian Mountains of Central Romania, near Brasov. Drawing on our friends from Hungary and Romania, this trip will provide an opportunity for their own countrymen to hear and experience the freedom we share together in Christ, spending a week together in their own wilderness.
